JROTC TO RELOCATE DURING THE SUMMER
Due to reconstruction and renovations at the high school, The Leavenworth High School JROTC Department is moving to Warren Middle School for summertime operations. Instructors work year round and someone is normally available all summer to handle any issues or questions. Cadets can also volunteer to help cadre with supply and admin operations during the summer to receive summer community service hour awards. During the relocation the phone system will be inoperative at LHS. An interim phone number to contact LTC David Black is 913-909-4008. Please leave a message if there is no answer and someone will return your call shortly. Email is another sure way to contact an instructor over the summer; visit our Contact Us page.

22 April,2010

The Pioneer Battalion, on 22 April 2010, underwent its triennial Regional Formal Inspection, or "RFI". The inspection was administered by 3rd Brigade officials from Fort Leonard Wood with active duty inspectors from Fort Leavenworth. The battalion received commendable results on the inspection with a score of 588 out of a possible 600. The attained ratings ensure that battalion cadets continue to wear the coveted gold star, identifying the battalion as an Honor Unit of Distinction, and honor reserved for the top 10% of JROTC units across the nation. .

The RFI scrutinizes all aspects of Leavenworth High School's JROTC program.  Some of the areas of inspection are program administration, school and district support and involvement, cadet knowledge, supply and funds management, cadet appearance, drill performance, a comprehensive staff briefing, security, and cadre performance, just to name a few.

The entire corps of cadets performed extremely well and executed a very complex inspection with minimal deficiencies. An excellent testament to the professionalism and pride of the Pioneer Battalion.

This year, for the second year in a row, the club made a generous $500 grant to our battalion to help purchase new ladies pumps for our female cadets. This grant will ensure that our lady cadets will continue to look classy and sharp. The Army only authorizes the purchase of lady oxford shoes with Army funds. To keep the Pioneer Ladies in the classy, traditional skirts the battalion relies on donations, grants and fund-raisers to purchase the shoes.
