The Army JROTC Pioneer Battalion at Leavenworth High School is an active organization.  JROTC becomes more than just a class you sit in for an hour during the day.  Different opportunities are offered you as a cadet in the program.  We sponsor six special teams with four competing and recognized as varsity sports by the school.  These special teams range from competitive drilling to musical instruments.  With the range of interest and practice times, there is sure to be a special team to interest any cadet.

Our battalion is run by the cadet battalion staff.  With help from the Senior Army Instructor and the other cadre, our battalion staff works to plan events such as Organization Day and the Veteran’s Day parade.  Included in the planning are daily training schedules that are written by the Battalion S-3 and then posted outside the LET I classroom.  Besides planning events, the battalion staff also takes care of keeping track of cadet’s awards, promotions, and community service hours, the records of uniforms, and public relations with the school and community.  We are proud to have a student run battalion.

Another part to our JROTC battalion is our dedication to community service.  Each cadet is expected to achieve approximately 22 hours of community service each semester, fulfilling benchmarks during the semester.  Many cadets go beyond this required amount.  Our service requests come from the many places including some Leavenworth high school clubs.  As JROTC cadets we do our best and help where ever we are needed.
